Teacher to head mine training
A SENIOR Central Coast educator has been appointed to lead the establishment of Australia's first training school to help address the crucial skills shortage in the NSW underground cola mining industry.
Maree Roberts, of Terrigal, will be the inaugural Director of the Doyles Creek Underground Mine Training School to run in conjuction with the proposed underground mine being developed by NuCoal at Jerrys Plains in the upper Hunter.
With more than 30 years' experience as a teacher, Ms Roberts leaves her post as Deputy Regional Director of the Hunter Central Coast region of NSW Public Schools.
NuCoal managing director, Glen Lewis said Ms Roberts was a well regarded senior educator with a proven track record in delivering high quality education programs.
"Ms Roberts brings a wealth of knowledge and this will be a great asset as we establish Australia's first coal centric training school." Mr Lewis said.
Parent outrage at Gosford Public School move
PARENTS are furious over the state government's fianl decision to move Gosford Public School to a site within Henry Kendall High School.
